22 Things I've Done

I'm 34 year old and I've....
1) Had my heart broken and broken a few myself.
2) Laughed so hard that I peed my pants.
3) Married my best friend.
4) Watched my grandmother take her last breath.
5) Slept on a beach.
6) Lied to my mom about where I was going and instead went to a party 200 miles away.
7) Had a night in Vegas that was unbelievable and will never be repeated or discussed.
8) Skinny dipped in a lake.
9) Was a summer camp counselor for 3 years straight.
10) Went "ice skating" on a frozen manure pond.
11) Met Hilary Clinton while she was first lady in the middle of the night in the hallway of a hotel in Portland, OR.
12) Suffered a miscarriage. Twice.

13) Went streaking at age 13 at a friend's birthday party.
14) Got a tattoo on my 18th birthday.
15) Given birth via c-section to a handsome, sweet, kind baby boy!
16) Been on so many roadtrips with my husband that we've lost count.
17) Went to a real, authentic, non-touristy Hawaiian luau in Hawaii for my nephew's 1st birthday.
18) Went to Washington, DC in 8th grade while in a wheelchair because I had torn my ACL 2 weeks before the trip and I wasn't about to miss it.
19) Got lost up on Mt. St. Helens while Christmas tree hunting with my husband and in-laws. We drove around on forest service roads in a snowstorm for almost 6 hours. I cried and my FIL got so scared that we had to stop to let him pee before he peed himself.

20) Finally graduated from college at the age of 32.
21) Got bit by a mouse while trying to help my cat catch it. The mouse then would not let go so I had to drive to the emergency room with said mouse still attached to my middle finger to have it removed...and get a rabies shot.
22) Sat on 3 different juries.

Things I've learned lately

1) Colds are the gifts that just keep on giving! I got really, really sick about 4 weeks ago. Then my husband got sick. Then my son got sick. And now my throat is killing me and I can't stop coughing. that just keeps on giving!
2) Starting a new business is so much fun. Ever since starting Jenn Schell Photography back in August I have had a blast. I've met some wonderful people. Reconnected with old friends and co-workers. I get to play with newborn babies. And I got to photography my first wedding! I love, love, love what I do!
3) On the flip side...starting a business is so much WORK!! You must be willing to network, network, network. And for me, all while working a full-time day job. (And, have you ever photographed a wedding? OMG it is so don't want to miss a moment. And guess what? You don't get a do-over with wedding photos...It's a one time shot folks. That's it.) But I wouldn't have it any other way, because just like I said above I love, love, love what I do!!
4) My husband and I watch some really gross shows. We just noticed how behind on our DVR that we are, and we realized why. It was because 90% of the shows that we record are not child-friendly. Not at all. The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, CSI, Dexter, Fringe, and the list goes on and on. I think this just might say something about us that we don't want to deal with.

5) Vegas is fun. Lots and lots of fun. And adults need their time away every now and then. And moms & dads need their time alone also. It makes for a better marriage. And this photo makes me laugh. That's my husband on the left, our friend Steve on the right and "Gene Simmonds" in the middle.

Edit Me Challenge - Week 22

Original photo

This is the first week that the Edit Me Challenge is being hosted over on it's new home and I'm really excited about the photo that we have to work with. The photo is supplied by Kristi from Live and Love Out Loud and is of her beautiful daughter.
I did 2 different edits, a color and a black & white one, and I can't decide which one I like better...I think I'm leaning towards the color one, but the b&w has some great drama!

It's Grasshopper Time!

Fall is here in AZ which means that it's time for things to get super crazy busy around here!!

Since it is always so hot here during the summer months most people just hideout indoors and we pray for the cooler weather to come. And now, since it is finally cooling down it's time for some fall sports. This season Chris is coaching Caleb's soccer team again (they named themselves the Grasshoppers!) and they are having so much fun! Their first game was 2 Saturday's ago and Caleb scored 2 goals in his first game and another one this past Saturday. And let me tell you that I am one proud mommy!

Chris and his team...the Grasshoppers!
Chris working with the kiddos
Going in for the steal!
And boy oh boy, can my little one take a fall!
Waiting for the game to start
Goofing around at halftime
That smile on his face says it all...he absolutely LOVES playing soccer!
