The Magic Wand (Or the story of how babies are made)

Actual conversation in the car a couple of weeks ago:

Caleb: Mommy I want a baby. Can we have another baby?

Me: Ask your dad.

Chris: (Ever the super practical, money man) Well Caleb...do you like to go on trips, get new toys, and do lots of things? If we had another baby it would be hard to do those things.

Caleb: Oh...ok. But how do baby's get inside a mommy's belly?

Me: It's magic.

Caleb: ohhhhh.....ok.

About 3 minutes pass.

Caleb: (in a VERY excited voice!!) I GET IT! I GET IT! A BABY GETS IN MOMMY'S BELLY WHEN A DADDY USES HIS MAGIC WAND. RIGHT?!? 'Cause it's magic, right?!?

Chris and I in unison: Ummmmm....yeah. That's exactly how it works! Daddy's magic wand puts a baby in mommy's belly.

And then we laughed uncontrollably for at least 10 minutes...while Caleb sat in the backseat asking why we were laughing. And every time I think about this I am still laughing. And laughing.

And laughing!

Beautiful Baby Girl Edit

I'm trying to get back into the swing of things and something that I really missed being a part of was Branson's Edit Me Challenge over on her blog My Reflection of Something. And I am so very glad that this was the week that I decided to start participating again...the photo provided is an absolutely adorable photo of a sweet newborn baby girl. (Photo provided by The Wishful Lamb). I decided to do a good, clean edit...something that I would give one of my clients to put up on their wall.

Original Photo
For this edit I used all actions from MCP Actions.
1) I used the magic skin action at 50% to give her that soft, glowy even skin.
2) I then cleaned up so little fabric hairs that were coming off of the flower on the headband.
3) I then used the Color Fusion Mix & Match with One Click Color @75%, Peachy @50% and Beach House @50%.
4) Finally I added a slight vignette to the photo.
Isn't she just a total sweetie?!? Happy Wednesday!!

lost

Lately I've felt so lost.

Lost in life.

Lost in direction.

There are days that everything seems so upside-down. Days that are so hazy and foggy that I almost forget who I am and why I am here. Then it starts to subside. I begin to feel right again...and them BAM,  I fall back down.

I know that part of it is the exhaustion. The pure sleep-deprived exhaustion that leaves this haze about me. I need to sleep. I need it so desperately, but it usually won't come. And when I do sleep it is a sleep that is filled with nightmares, and tossing & turning. It is not restful.

The other part of it is the depression that has plagued me for the past 4 years or so. Every time I think that I get a handle on it...it rears it's ugly head and begins to take over my life. It holds me back. It doesn't allow me to move forward in any way. I need to make an appointment with my doctor, but lately I barely have enough energy to get through the day, let alone remember to make that phone call.

And the last part is life. Lately life has thrown me some heavy hits. My mother was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. (Her 3rd bout with cancer.) My husband and been working long, long hours and extra days...so it's been just me at home to take care of things. Work has been strenuous...lots of expectations and I have a hard time admitting when I can't take more on. And I started my photography business, working evenings & weekends to get it off the ground.

I feel broken...It's almost like I see my reflection in the mirror and I don't even recognize what looks back at me.

Showing his independence

This morning my handsome little man decided that he didn't want mommy to pick out his clothes for him anymore. He wanted to be a "big boy" like his daddy and choose his own clothes for the day.

I've gotta hand it too him...he certainly showed his independence today!

One thing that I can say for the boy...he certainly likes a lot of colors! (And if this photo doesn't bring a smile to your face...I don't know what would!)

Happy Tuesday!

Hi everyone! It's been a while but, I'm finally back from vacation! A much needed and very fabulous trip! We travelled all over the west coast...Washington, Oregon & California.
